This beautiful 36.1 gram natural gold nugget was mined in Atlin B.C. last summer. Gold was first discovered in the Atlin district in the 1850’s. Atlin earned the nickname ‘Switzerland of the North’ due to its rugged mountains and stunning vistas. The remote location and difficult terrain made many sections of British Columbia rather hostile towards the mining of gold. The area comprising Northern British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, and Alaska collectively earned the name “The Klondike.”
